Although we've been catering to the needs of Weavers since Time began, we only received our first Royal Charter in 1892. Then in 2007 we were fortunate to vote ourselves RapidWeaver's Premier Resource Portal and Inspiration Station, a prestigious award we've been been privileged to win every year since.
With my unique skillset, I offer a design, consultation and mentoring service unrivalled in the RapidWeaver community.
WeaverThings Stacks that make you look good and give you the professional edge with a focus on style and detail.
Our independent and multi-talented team of writers review all things RapidWeaver and write all things web design.
In the beginning there was the Big Bang. Thirteen billion years later RapidWeaver Central was born. Forged from stardust in the crucible of an ever-expanding Weaververse, RWC was founded as an all-encompassing RapidWeaver and Web Design resource site for Weavers, millennia before today's glorious constellation of resources came into being. We are intrepid pioneers forever testing the limits of the Weaververse, intergalactic adventurers stumbling down cosmic paths no sane Weaver has travelled before.
Deep in the Scottish Borders the small town of Peebles sits on the River Tweed, famous for its trout, salmon, and textile mills. Although only a fraction of the town's traditional weaving industry still remains, Peebles now attracts modern-day weavers from all over the world who come to kiss the hallowed stones of RapidWeaver Central's ancient headquarters.
When I first envisaged RapidWeaver Central I saw it as an inspirational design and resource hub for all the Weavers like myself who had a destination in mind and wanted to get there fast. New York's Grand Central captured that vision and so the name, motif and thematic gradually became the essence of the brand.
When YourHead’s Stacks emerged upon the scene and generated a whole new market in the community, I created the first and only central stack resource, StackCentral.
After a couple of years and an explosion of new stacks on the market it came to a point where I could no longer maintain the list without a substantial database and CMS functionality — so I joined forces with Gille who had founded a WordPress database of stacks called StacksCenter. In 2014 Gille ceded that resource back to me and together we integrated its database into a new hybrid version of RapidWeaver Central.
All good things come to an end.
It's been a long time coming but once again our race is run. We no longer have the luxury of time to maintain our StackCentral database and have now put it into retirement. For those of you who can't live without it, you can still access the archive here.

In this fifth renaissance of RapidWeaver Central our locomotive — or loco motif — thematic has re-emerged in a true steampunk fashion, merging old and new as we go mad with our pre-avant-garde Maximal Design philosophy of More is Less.
Having a mentor when starting a project allows one to reach higher from the start, it eliminates the need to stay safely within the confines of methods already mastered.
I struggled along in solitary seclusion for ages wishing like mad that I had a Master RapidWeaver friend next door. Thanks to Marten and Skype I now have exactly that! It is invaluable to get a truthful opinion, Marten is not afraid to tell you politely but firmly that your much loved project is a mess. Being a lazy person, in the past I would gladly have paid just to have someone sort the problem out for me, but Marten makes you think for yourself, which means not only getting things beautifully sorted, but gaining self respect, knowledge and a sense of achievement along the way. I also think he may be an alien from outer-space, because he seems never to sleep and no matter how busy he is he always makes plenty of time. I can honestly say that I think this is the most well spent money of my life so far.
Marten is a great example of the benefits of the internet and tools like Skype bringing the world together.
Given that I’m in Southeastern Virginia and Marten is Edinburgh, Scotland, what was once never a possibility actually occurred for me when I hired Marten to support our web redevelopment efforts. What I found was a person who is not only an expert in RapidWeaver and web development, but also someone who is genuinely concerned about doing work that is a cut above the rest. His knowledge and capability is impressive, and I have truly enjoyed working with him. I also enjoyed our side conversations and I’m happy to say that I now have a new friend in Scotland. If you’re in need of help for a RapidWeaver project, I can wholeheartedly recommend Marten!
Marten is unique in that he brings to Web design a novelist’s sensitivity to language as well as considerable business acumen.
Working with Marten is like working with a visual artist, copywriting coach, and business advisor all wrapped up in one. At the same time, his warm personality makes the complicated task of bringing a website to life a lot of fun. Even though he’s halfway around the world from my office, Marten has become a valuable member of my company team.
Having my website professionally redesigned by Marten was one of the best business decisions I have made so far.
Since the new website went live we have seen a dramatic increase in inquiries and consequently an increase in my business. I have had many compliments on the new design! Thank you for all your great work and continued support!
I’ve been fortunate to have been present since near the beginning of the commercial Internet.
My company was the first to use the Macintosh to create high resolution computer animations for the advertising industry using Director. In my present position I am blessed to be able to work with some of the most talented creative and technical personnel available. I count Marten Claridge at the top of this group. His ability to take my minimal concepts and direction and to turn them into a beautiful, fully functional and effective website would be cause enough for me to make him my only go-to web developer. That he was also able to do so in a condensed time frame and on budget is unheard of. When our clients require web development or design, there is only one recommendation on our list – Marten.
In my previous life I was a highly successful struggling writer. I wrote crime and mystery novels set in Scotland. Three of the novels enjoyed a modicum of success, by which I mean very little. My most recent novel has the sole distinction of having been rejected by every agent in the world. I have now released it on Kindle where it will soon go viral and top the bestselling charts of my imagination.
Founded by Marten Claridge in 1907, RapidWeaver Central and StackCentral are free resources for all powerless WeaverHolics. WeaverThings are RapidWeaver Central stacks.
